Welcome from the Greater Manchester Learning Trust
Greater Manchester Learning Trust was established in September 2016 and is situated in the South Manchester suburb of Didsbury. The Trust builds on the well-established values and tremendous success of its lead school, Parrs Wood High School. The Trust’s mission is “to transform the lives of all those who study and work in its schools, through relationships which inspire confidence and aspiration; through experiences and opportunities which lead to future happiness and success.”
Greater Manchester Learning Trust operates in the Greater Manchester area in order to address local priorities and to benefit local children. We work with partners across phases to benefit children and professionals across the area, providing support and development and delivering opportunities to collaborate and improve outcomes for all of our children.
The Greater Manchester Learning Trust is built around the core values of:
Community: “nurturing a community which works together providing mutual support and understanding
Creativity: “having the confidence to imagine, explore and express ideas without fear or judgment”
Achievement: “fulfilling our individual and collective potential”
About Parrs Wood
At this early stage in the development of the Multi Academy Trust, Parrs Wood High School is the lead school within the MAT, seeking to build further partnerships and strength in all areas. Parrs Wood High School opened in 1967 as an 11-18 coeducational comprehensive school which is consistently among the highest performing schools in the city. Our main school is housed in buildings opened in the year 2000 and has 1,600 pupils in years 7 to 11 and a very successful sixth form of over 400 students. Our examination results are amongst the very best in the city year-on-year and all groups of students consistently perform above national measures. The school is characterised by wonderful relationships and high expectations between students and staff which drive a desire to achieve.
Parrs Wood is truly comprehensive - a multi-faith, multi-cultural school, as befits one of our country's greatest cities, with a broad range of ability levels and a truly excellent local, national and international reputation. Our lead school is at the heart of the local community and we have a real sense of identity. We want communities to be proud of our school and we are determined to make it the ‘first choice’ for all families.
