Richard Pearce has been a lawyer practising in Manchester for over 30 years. Until 2015, he was a barrister specialising in Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence. Since 2015 he has been a Circuit Judge, initially sitting on a variety of criminal, family and civil cases. He is now the specialist judge in charge of the Circuit Commercial Court in Manchester and Liverpool.
His experience of school governance has included a long period as a governor of a local primary school. Both of his sons attended Parrs Wood High School and one now teaches Chinese in London. His daughter teaches in a local sixth form college.
He continues to be involved in promoting access to the legal profession for people from disadvantaged backgrounds and from communities that are currently under-represented amongst the profession.
