Trust Director of Finance
Salary: Schools Leadership Range L31 - L35 (£81,478 - £89,874) negotiable for an exceptional candidate
Greater Manchester Learning Trust is seeking to appoint a capable, dynamic and focused Trust Director of Finance to join our Executive Leadership Team and lead the development of our Trust.
The vacancy arises following the creation of a new Multi-Academy Trust for Manchester and the region. Building on the longstanding success of Parrs Wood High School, the Greater Manchester Learning Trust aspires to create a family of schools providing an outstanding educational experience at all phases.
The Trust Director of Finance will lead the Strategic financial development and growth of the Trust, delivering the very best financial support both for Parrs Wood and for partners in our Trust. You will be experienced as a Director of Finance, and will have had a proven record of success in previous financial leadership roles. An accomplished people-manager able to influence and inspire others, you will have sound commercial acumen to seek out opportunities and manage the financial growth of the organisation that will shape the future of the Trust.
Reporting directly to the Executive Principal, you will be the lead financial advisor to the school and to the Trust, tasked with ensuring solvency and efficient financial practice both at Trust level and across all GMLT academies.
You will lead on financial and commercial management of the Trust and ensure that GMLT has clear and sustainable plans for the future, providing strategic leadership of the Trust’s finances and advising the Trust Board on financial strategy which develops the educational aims, ethos and growth strategy of the Trust.
You will have a proven record of delivery at a strategic financial level, coupled with a track record in developing high performing teams and individuals. Naturally, you will have advanced analytical and problem solving skills as well as the capability to manage workloads which will require frequent visits to organisations within the Trust.
Personable and professional, your technical knowledge will be peerless, and you will be capable of engaging and influencing people at all levels to create partnerships, drive improvement and develop our Trust as a beacon of excellence.
Located in the South Manchester suburb of Didsbury, within cosmopolitan Greater Manchester, and with a unique village-within-a-town-within-a-city feel. There are strong commuter links throughout the North West including good rail and tram infrastructure and easy access to Manchester City Centre, with the Universities close by and the International Airport only some 10 minutes (5 miles) away. The Trust is commutable from most of the main towns in the region including Manchester, Stockport, Trafford, Bolton, Warrington, the other towns in Greater Manchester and from much of Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, and Derbyshire via the M56, M60, M67 and M62. The Trust is close to the culture and bustle of city life, but lies close to the beautiful Peak District hills and Cheshire plains.
